A new gym is officially open for business in the Bessemer-McCalla area, and staff say it was engineered to be a comprehensive destination for training and recovery. Onelife Fitness McCalla is now accepting members inside its 58,000-square-foot facility. The gym features a wide range of equipment and options, from traditional strength and cardio machines to boxing and MMA training.
“We didn’t spare any expense,” said trainer Rakin Abdullah. “We got everything from recovery room to boxing, MMA, the turf over here where you can do all the functional training. Of course, every type of cardio machine you can name.” Abdullah also emphasized the gym’s assortment of strength equipment, including Arsenal Strength and Hammer Strength machines, more than 10 different bench presses, and more than 10 cable stations.
In addition to traditional workout and training options, the gym is also focused on recovery efforts, including a cold plunge, a saltwater swimming pool, and what Abdullah described as a Himalayan salt sauna. The facility also features a children’s area so parents and caregivers can get a workout while their kids are supervised.
The new gym is promoting a 60-day challenge beginning May 1. According to Abdullah, participants will pay $25 to enter and receive nutritional advice and training tutorials, with prizes available for winners. Early reviews of the new club have been positive, calling it a standout addition for the Bessemer-McCalla area, staff say.
