Bessemer awards contract for Recreation Center storage building

The Kenneth E. Gulley Recreation Center at Roosevelt Park has been in need of a storage building since last year.

Five bids in response to the bid package distributed by City Engineer EEFS Company, PC were received for the construction project.

The lowest responsive and responsible bid was received from Coston General Contractors, Inc., of Bessemer. The bid was in the amount of $396,000.00.

Following a recommendation from Bessemer Mayor Kenneth Gulley and EEFS Company, a contract for the project was awarded to Coston General Contractors, Inc.

The storage facility will be located next to the concession stand.

The building will be used to store athletic equipment and lawn care equipment for Roosevelt Park.

Councilman Cleo King made a motion to approve the item. Councilwoman Carla Jackson seconded the motion.

The motion carried.
