Bessemer enters into construction agreement with State of Alabama

At a recent meeting of the Bessemer City Council, a resolution was approved authorizing the Mayor of the City of Bessemer to enter into a construction agreement with the State of Alabama, acting by and through the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), for a federal-aid transportation project.

The construction project is known as the McCalla Road Project No. ACAA59497-ATRP007, CPMS Ref. #100059497.

The project involves the widening and resurfacing of McCalla Road. Construction will begin at the intersection of Eastern Valley Road and McCalla Road and extend to the Norfolk Southern Railroad crossing.

The total estimated cost of the project is $2,193,871.00.

The project is scheduled to be bid through the State in mid-summer, with construction expected to begin in early fall.

Councilman Teco Stephens made a motion to approve the resolution, and Councilman Cleo King seconded the motion.

The motion carried.
