Assistant District Attorney Rosemari Claibon-Hopson, who served in Alabama’s 4th Judicial Circuit, died Jan. 10 after what colleagues described as a private health battle.
Claibon-Hopson worked in the circuit that covers Bibb, Dallas, Hale, Perry and Wilcox counties. She was most recently assigned to Dallas County Juvenile Court, the district criminal division and the child support unit, where she handled a wide range of cases on behalf of the state.
In a statement announcing her death, District Attorney Robert Turner Jr. said Claibon-Hopson was known for her “attention to detail, her steady professionalism, and the class with which she carried herself in every setting,” and that she carried out her duties with fairness and respect for the people she served.
Before joining the district attorney’s office, Claibon-Hopson practiced law privately.
Funeral services for Claibon-Hopson were held Sunday, Jan. 18, at Bethany Seventh-day Adventist Church in Montgomery. Ross-Clayton Funeral Home directed arrangements.
