First elected in 2018, Bessemer City Councilman Jarvis Collier, District 1 is seeking re-election.
The Bessemer Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, August 25. The polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

A respected member of the community, serving the people of District 1 has been one of his greatest honors, and he remains committed to District 1 and meeting the needs of his constituents.
A local businessman for over 20 years, he is president of the Bessemer City Council. He owns Collier’s Barber & Style Shop and Collier’s Barber & Style Institute.
Born and raised in Bessemer, Councilman Collier’s re-election slogan is “Collier Works and Committed Leadership!”
His focus is simple: Work hard, be present, listen, find solutions and deliver results for the people you represent.
Councilman Collier is the man in the District 1 community.
His top priorities include community engagement with the youth and seniors, transparency, public safety, infrastructure, clean neighborhoods, accountability, and utility assistance.
“Each year I help organize and support more than 15 community events in partnership with local businesses, churches, nonprofits and volunteers,” said Councilman Collier.
His vision for Bessemer is to build a city where families want to live, businesses want to invest and young people have opportunities to succeed.
