Every day, nurses go above and beyond to provide patients and their families with excellence in clinical care while offering compassion and support.
Recently, UAB Medical West presented the DAISY Award to RN Pam Holley, an employee at UAB Medical West.
Holley was nominated by both staff and patients for providing exceptional care to patients.
The DAISY Award honors nurses wherever they practice, wherever they are in their careers, and across the world.
It was established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died from the autoimmune disease ITP following an eight-week hospitalization.
As a recognition program, all licensed registered nurses are eligible for the DAISY Award.
The mission of the DAISY Foundation is to meaningfully celebrate extraordinary, compassionate nurses, capturing those moments unique to nursing that make a profound difference in the lives of people around the world.
The award began at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance at the University of Washington Medical Center.
