A chat with Carol Rodriguez, owner, Carol’s Embroidery

Embroidery is beautiful.

Carol’s Embroidery opened in Hueytown in June of 2025 by Carol Rodriguez. A Fairfield native, Carol’s business is located in her husband Ceasar Rodriguez’s business, American Pride Trophies and Awards, at 1011-D Brooklane Drive in Hueytown.

She has years of experience as a quilter and a seamstress. With a cute smile and a charming personality, Carol served 16 years in the United States Marine Corps as a staff sergeant.

Her attention to detail when she served as a staff sergeant remains imperative in the running of her embroidery business.

A member of the D. W. Segars Memorial American Legion Post 1228, Carol enjoys working in the garden. Her Baptist roots contribute to her understanding nature with her customers.

Embroidery is a learning experience, and Carol has learned well.

Tell me about Carol’s Embroidery?
Carol: I opened the business in 2025 because everybody was asking me if American Pride Trophies did embroidery. So we decided to start an embroidery business.

What is embroidery?
Carol: Taking a picture and displaying it in stitches. It is the art of embroidering fabric using a needle to stitch thread. Pearls, beads and sequins are often times used to highlight a design.

How did you learn embroidery?
Carol: I am self-taught. However, my late grandmother Nora Ellison and her sister Mary Bates did beautiful embroidery work.

What do you embroider?
Carol: As an embroiderer, I embroider golf bags, baseball bags, business shirts, golf shirts, horse blankets, pillowcases, racing suits and towels.

Do you have a favorite meal?
Carol: I enjoy a medium well steak, loaded baked potato with extra sour cream, a garden salad with Thousand Island dressing, fried okra and for dessert chocolate, chocolate and chocolate.

What is your favorite color?
Carol: My favorite color is purple because it is one of my high school colors as well as my children’s high school color.

What gives you joy?
Carol: During six years of marriage, each day with my husband gives me joy. We pray together, he compliments my work, he is kind, sweet, never negative and a very doting husband.

Do you have a favorite Bible verse?
Carol: Yes, sir. Psalm 139:14. “I will praise thee; I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works and that my soul knoweth right well.”
