Springing and flinging together at the Glenwood Annual 1K Walk

“Through movement, laughter and connection, Glenwood’s Spring Fling brings our community together in the best way,” said Glenwood President and CEO Christy Castleberry.

This past weekend, the Glenwood family celebrated their Spring Fling Block Party with a conglomerate of activities along with good food amongst a 1K Walk taken on by staff members and students.

The annual Glenwood Spring Fling consists of a 0.62 (1 kilometer) mile distance where staff, students and residents compile the trail in unison to complete such a walking distance. This particular walk is set to encourage health and exercising that would benefit all in staying active and ensure one’s well being, healthiness and the awareness that comes with staying active.

After the walk, all Glenwood students and residents received gold medals for their efforts as they were supported by the help of staff members during the fifteen minute walk.

Glenwood grants a school and assisted living atmosphere for all residents that is based on the inclusion of family members’ involvement as well as activities, programs and nurturing for those within the Glenwood facilities.

Glenwood President, Mrs. Castleberry, continued, stating, “This is a special day where our students, residents, families and staff step away from routine and simply enjoy being together. We come and celebrate progress, friendship and the joy of belonging. We also take time to acknowledge that days such as these remind us that meaningful moments come from the simplest things- walking side by side, sharing a meal and having fun.”

We celebrate the familial and supportive staff at Glenwood that provides brilliant services and love towards our autistic communities, setting an example and standard for us all in ways to support and care for those special and dear individuals.

“Let’s Continue to Walk Side By Side, Hand In Hand to Conquer All Obstacles and Mountainous Hills Together.”
