The Hale County Library will host a free open mic event on Saturday, April 25, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the library located at 1103 Main Street in Greensboro, in celebration of National Poetry Month.
The event is open to middle school students, high school students, and adults who wish to showcase their talents in poetry, spoken word, or rap. Participants must perform original works, and all performances must be free of explicit language. A prize will be awarded for the best original performance.
As a special treat for younger audience members, the program will also feature a fun, family-friendly skit inspired by the works of Dr. Seuss, adding an engaging element to the afternoon. Refreshments will be provided.
The open mic night is hosted by the Hale County Library and CREW. Library Director Dianne Lewis said the event is designed to give performers of all ages a welcoming, community stage to share their original work.
Those interested in performing are encouraged to register in advance by calling the Hale County Library at (334) 624-3409, though walk-ins are also welcome. The event is free and open to the public.
