Robert Chalmers Bamberg III

Robert Chalmers Bamberg III, age 77, passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, August 11, at his home in Uniontown. He was born April 9, 1949, in Selma to Robert Chalmers “Red” Bamberg Junior of Brent and Mary Olivia Barnes Bamberg of Plantersville. He graduated from Uniontown High School in 1967, then attended Marion Military Institute before transferring to Auburn University, where he graduated in 1971 with a degree in agricultural economics.

A lifelong rancher, Robert took great pride in his family farm and his community. He taught adult men’s Sunday School classes for years, was an active participant in local politics, and his friends held his loyalty in high esteem.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Trawick Conway Bamberg, and his children, Mary Beth Downey (Curt), Robert “Beau” Bamberg, Laura Susan Gideon (Ben), Amy Leigh Bamberg, Jennifer (Eric) Evans, Julie (Mark) Evans, and twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden on Sunday, August 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. Private family burial followed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
