In cooperation with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Beta Psi Omega Chapter and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, The League of Women Voters of Greater Birmingham will host the Bessemer Municipal Elections Candidates’ Forum.
The event is to be held August 15, 2026, starting at 11 a.m. at Allen Temple A.M.E. Church, 917 22nd St. North- Bessemer, 35020, it will be hosted by Rev. Anre’ Faush.
While the event is free and open to the public, security procedures will be likely, as guests are encouraged to arrive early for time sufficient to allow screenings.
The Candidates’ Forum is designed to educate and engage voters by providing an opportunity to hear directly from municipal candidates before Election Day. Guided by the theme, “Equality & Justice For All” the Forum reflects the organizations’ shared commitment to civic engagement, voter education and strengthening democracy through informed participation.
Attendees are also encouraged to bring their questions and participate in this nonpartisan community event as they will get the chance to learn of the candidates’ priorities, hear their responses to import issues and become better informed voters.
