Marion Man Jailed on Meth Charges Monday

A Marion man was arrested June 15 on a felony drug charge after methamphetamine and glass pipes were reported found in a vehicle he was driving in Marion.

Melvin Levern Sprott Jr., 66, of 105B Davis Street, Marion, faces one felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

As of June 16, Perry County District Court records listed his status as jailed, with bond set at $2,800.

According to the sworn complaint, Sprott was operating a vehicle on or near Grove Street in Marion on or about June 12 when a law enforcement agent found methamphetamine inside a pill bottle in the vehicle.

Sprott admitted the substance belonged to him, and it field-tested positive for methamphetamine, the complaint states.

Pritchett also reported finding glass pipes used for smoking methamphetamine in the vehicle’s center console.
