On Wednesday, June 3, Marion Military Institute welcomed the president of Valley Forge Military College, COL Stuart B. Helgeson, USMC (Ret), and VFMC Board member GEN Gus Perna, USA (Ret).
MMI’s social media account says the purpose of the visit was exploring areas of mutual interest.
Founded in 1928 and located in Wayne, Pennsylvania, Valley Forge Military Academy, a high school, operated alongside Valley Forge Military College on the same campus.
In 2023, the high school and college became two separate entities, each with its own independent board of trustees, leadership, and accreditation.
Last month, Valley Forge Military Academy concluded operations following the graduation of its 98th Corps of Cadets.
The Academy’s closure was decided by its independent board of trustees and applied only to the Academy.
J.D. Salinger, author of The Catcher in the Rye, was an alumnus of the Academy.
