It was a morning to celebrate breast cancer survivors and thrivers.
The Fifth Annual Survivors & Thrivers Breast Cancer Awareness Brunch was held recently at North Highland Baptist Church in Hueytown.
The event was hosted by the Hueytown Area Chamber of Commerce.
Honored were those who have fought the disease and raise awareness about the importance of early detection and access to mammograms.
Proceeds from the brunch benefited the Baptist Health Foundation at Princeton Baptist Medical Center. They help provide mammograms for local individuals who are uninsured and might otherwise be unable to afford this important screening.
Members of the planning committee were Michael Cashaw, Lisa Kriegel and Debbie Kiker.
The program featured Hueytown Mayor Steve Ware, Dr. Robin Conley, Bessemer Cutoff District Attorney Lynneice Washington, Denise Lowery and David Settle.
Jamie Gilmore served as the mistress of ceremonies.
The special music was provided by the choirs at North Highland Baptist Church, First Missionary Church in Hueytown and Valley Creek Arts.
This year’s sponsors are state Rep. Patrick Sellers, state Sen. Merika Coleman, Dr. Robin Conley, Don the Cruiser, Norton’s Florist, the Cashaw family and Cahaba Printing.
The nearly 170 guests enjoyed a delicious brunch, inspirational stories and beautiful tablescapes created by area churches, organizations, families and individuals.
