Porter

At a recent meeting of the Bessemer City Council, with a quorum present, incumbent Councilman Chester W. Porter was declared duly elected to the office of City Council, District 2. Porter was the only person who filed a statement of candidacy for the District 2 seat before the deadline.

Mayor Kenneth Gulley was directed to issue a certificate of election to Porter for the term provided under Section 11-46-25 of the Code of Alabama 1975, as amended. The District 2 term begins on the first Monday in November.

Councilwoman Sarah Bell Person moved to approve the item, Councilwoman Carla Jackson seconded, and the motion carried.
