A 30-year-old Hoover woman is charged with murder after a 70-year-old woman was found unresponsive in a community pool in the 2200 block of Little Valley Road on the night of Sept. 3, according to a Hoover Police Department news release.

Officers responded at 9:32 p.m. after a 911 call reported an unresponsive person in the pool. The victim, a 70-year-old Hoover woman, was pronounced dead after life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, the release said. Police withheld her name pending notification of her family.
Detectives located a person of interest near the scene and determined she was an acquaintance of the victim, the release said. Evidence showed a physical struggle occurred just before the victim’s death, and the death is being investigated as a homicide.
The facts and evidence were presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office in Birmingham, which issued a murder warrant with no bond for Anastasia Tsefia Sudarsana, 30, of Hoover, according to the Sept. 4 release.
Sudarsana was being held and was to be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail later that day.
The official cause and manner of death will be released by the Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office when the investigation is complete, police said.
