Hale County gets $350,000 state grant to widen, resurface County Road 29

Hale County will receive a $350,000 state grant to widen and resurface 4.6 miles of County Road 29 from Alabama Highway 25 to Alabama Highway 69, according to the list of road grants Gov. Kay Ivey announced Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The county’s local match is $216,422.41, for a project total of $566,422.41, the list shows.

The grant is part of the final round this year of the Alabama Department of Transportation’s Annual Grant Program, created by the 2019 Rebuild Alabama Act. The round awarded more than $3.8 million for 13 road projects statewide, and projects must move forward within one year, according to the governor’s release.
