The City of Greensboro has a code enforcement officer working throughout the city and is asking residents, landlords, business owners and property owners to look over their properties and address any problems before enforcement action becomes necessary, the city announced Sept. 10.
The city’s notice asks property owners to:
- Keep grass, weeds and vegetation maintained;
- Remove trash, junk, rubbish and debris;
- Address unsafe, abandoned, burned or severely deteriorated structures; and
- Make sure house and building numbers are clearly visible from the street, which the city said is especially important for police, fire and emergency medical personnel trying to find an address quickly.
Anyone planning construction, demolition, installation or placement of a structure, major renovations or other regulated changes to a property should contact City Hall before beginning work, the notice said, because an application, permit or approval may be required.
Property owners who receive a notice of violation will be expected to correct the problem within the time allowed, and failure to comply may result in citations, fines or other enforcement action authorized by law, the city said.
