Geraldine S. Marcus, 79, died September 5.
She was born July 7, 1947, in Moundville to the late Elmer and Odell Smith.
She was a woman of faith, strength and compassion. She dedicated her life to her family, her community and all those she encountered. She was known for her kind heart, generous spirit and willingness to help others.
Geraldine cherished her family above all else. She enjoyed listening to music and will always be remembered for her beautiful smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Odell Smith; a sister, Mary Carol Fountain; and a brother, Earl Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Cleo) Crout; a grandson, Myron Rich; a great-grandson, Kyron Rich; a special stepdaughter, Linda Washington, all of Moundville; her sisters, Barbara (Shelton) Rich, Willie Mae (Timothy) Buckhanna, Daisey (Michael) Ball and Carolyn (David) Weatherspoon, all of Moundville; a brother-in-law, James Henry Fountain Sr. of Tuscaloosa; and a host of family members.
Pastor Areen Bradwell delivered the eulogy. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
