Volunteer Lawyers Birmingham and its partners will hold the last expungement clinic of the year from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at Boutwell Auditorium, 1930 Reverend Abraham Woods Jr. Boulevard, Birmingham.
Attorneys, court personnel and voting rights restoration experts will help eligible people petition to clear certain charges from their records. Participants must complete a prescreen form to get an appointment, at vlbham.org/what-we-do/expungements or by calling 205-250-5198.
Partners include the City of Birmingham, the Magic City Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program, Birmingham AIDS Outreach, the Birmingham Bar Association, the Magic City Legal Center, Return My Vote and Woodlawn United.
Volunteer attorneys can sign up for a morning or afternoon shift at events.civicchamps.com/organizations/3153/calendar/month or by emailing mcheek@volunteerlawyersbham.org; an optional continuing legal education session by Zoom is set for noon Thursday, Oct. 15.
