Brighton and Lipscomb get state grants to resurface city streets

Brighton and Lipscomb will each receive a state grant to resurface six roads within their city limits, according to the list of road grants Gov. Kay Ivey announced Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Brighton’s grant is $125,000 for 1 mile of roads, and Lipscomb’s is $110,000 for 1.34 miles. Neither city is putting up a local match, the list shows.

The grants are part of the final round this year of the Alabama Department of Transportation’s Annual Grant Program, created by the 2019 Rebuild Alabama Act. The round awarded more than $3.8 million for 13 road projects statewide, and projects must move forward within one year, according to the governor’s release.
