Gelisa Renae Hollie, 36, died September 7 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born August 21, 1990, at Greene County Hospital in Eutaw to Mary Hollie and the late Steven Lee Gee Sr.
She confessed her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized by the Rev. Forrest Moore and the Rev. Edward Lawson. She served as a Sunday school teacher at her church, East McFarland Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Fowler.
She loved and cherished her son. She was a loving daughter, sister, auntie, cousin and granddaughter who loved her family, loved to decorate and to educate small children, and loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alana Jakara Hollie.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Kameron Maddox; her mother, Mary Hollie; two sisters, Kimberly Beckham (Marquise) and Janiya Gee; one brother, Steven Gee (Mark); loving grandparents, Ernest Hollie Sr. (Irma), Betty Gee and Billy Gee (Gladys); two special nieces, McKenzie and Zarriya; a special nephew, Marquise Jr.; a stepmother, Latisha Gee; two special adopted aunties, Katie Maneice and Diane Hudson; her aunt, Melissa Gee; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Her homegoing celebration was held Saturday, September 19, at 11 a.m. at Bass Tabernacle C.M.E. Church, 22890 County Road 32, Akron, the Rev. Willie D. Garnett, pastor, with Pastor Joseph Fowler officiating.
