Attorney general’s office alleges repeated attempts to influence a public servant
A Greensboro man is facing three felony counts of bribing a public servant in cases investigated and prosecuted by the Alabama attorney general’s office, according to Hale County District Court records.
Ayman Omar, 57, was arrested Aug. 5 on three warrants, each charging one count of bribing a public servant, a Class C felony.
Sworn complaints allege that on May 27, June 3 and July 6, Omar offered, conferred or agreed to confer a thing of value on a law enforcement officer, with the intent that the officer’s official actions would be corruptly influenced.
The complaints do not describe what was allegedly offered or what official action was at issue.
The complaints were sworn Aug. 4 by an investigator with the attorney general’s office, which also made the arrest the following day, court records show.
On Aug. 14, the attorney general’s office entered a formal appearance to prosecute the cases alongside the Fourth Judicial Circuit district attorney’s office.
