The Greensboro City Council during its June 23 meeting approved several purchases for the Greensboro Recreation Center and a donation for the Greensboro Community Youth Baseball League.
Councilmember Shepherd made a motion to approve the $2,254 purchase of an A/C unit, 10 6-foot folding tables, and 10 8-foot folding tables for the recreation center. Councilmember Bragg seconded the motion, and it was unanimously carried.
Councilmember Curtis made a motion to approve a $2,000 donation to the Greensboro Community Youth Baseball League. Bragg seconded the motion, and it was unanimously carried.
Sarah Wiggins of the Baptist Hill Community Day group requested that the Council close a section of road from Jackson Street to Evans Street from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on July 5 for the 12th annual Baptist Hill Community Day. Councilmember Lewis made a motion to grant the road closure, Curtis seconded it, and it was unanimously carried.
Mayor Ralph Howard issued a proclamation naming the week of June 22–26, 2026, as National Boys and Girls Club Week in recognition of the organization’s contributions to the community. Curtis made a motion to adopt the proclamation, and Lewis seconded it; it was unanimously carried.
