Rodney Smith, Huntsville’s well-known “Lawn Mower Man,” mowed the State Capitol lawn on Monday, May 18, 2026.
The work was completed in preparation for the America 250 Alabama Celebration hosted by Gov. Kay Ivey on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
Gov. Ivey greeted Smith, founder of Raising Men and Raising Women Lawn Care Service, at the State Capitol.
“Being invited by Gov. Kay Ivey to mow the Alabama State Capitol lawn truly fulfills a dream of mine,” said Smith.
“As someone who has traveled across all 50 states serving communities, it means so much to receive this kind of support and recognition from the governor of my home state, the great State of Alabama. I am incredibly grateful for Gov. Ivey’s leadership and for the ways she continues moving Alabama forward.”
Smith said he is honored to represent Alabama and proud to be an American.
He remains committed to making a difference, “One lawn at a time.”
