The Jefferson County Farm-City Committee was honored for the Best Farm-City Dinner for larger population counties during the Alabama Farm-City Awards Luncheon in Auburn on April 9.

Jefferson County received cash prizes from the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation (AFAF) for their work, which centered around the theme “Grow Alabama.”

The annual banquet, hosted at The Florentine, welcomed more than 180 guests representing rural and urban communities; featured WVTM Chief Meteorologist Jason Simpson as emcee; and included Alabama Teacher of the Year Katie Collins as the keynote speaker.

Key attendees included six state representatives, state board of education members and Jefferson County School System leaders.
