Mrs. Joyce Elizabeth Duke Baty of Demopolis, Alabama entered into eternal rest May 4, 2026 at The Retreat, Hospice by Saad, Mobile, Alabama.

Graveside services for Mrs. Joyce Elizabeth Duke Baty were held Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 11 a.m. from Memorial Gardens (Hwy 43 S), Demopolis, Alabama. Brother Carl Williams and Pastor Jennifer Gregory officiated.

Larkin and Scott Mortuary, LLC entrusted with arrangements.

Joyce Elizabeth Duke Baty was born September 11, 1935, daughter of the late Clint Whitfield Duke and Effie Marie Mason Duke. She graduated from Demopolis High School and started working at Vanity Fair. She met and married the love of her life, Jimmy Baty, on May 1, 1960. They started a family together and raised three children. She continued to work at Vanity Fair for 38 years. After retirement, she was manager at the Salvation Army until the age of 82. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Demopolis.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Sandra Joyce Baty; granddaughters, Amanda Michelle Ford and Susan Rena’ Ford; brother, Clint Atkins “Pete” Duke; and sisters, Bessie Marie Duke Thigpen and Ida Lee Bridges.

She leaves her memories to be cherished by her children, Russell Baty (Lou Ann), Robert Baty (Susanne), and Susan Lewis (Gene); 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family wishes to thank all who cared for their mother at SAAD during her last days with us. She was surrounded by a calm, loving environment, full of God’s peace because of each of you.
