The Eastern Valley Fire District, under the leadership of Fire Chief Eddie Passmore, and its firefighters are excited to have a new EMT fire truck.
A dedication ceremony was held on Sunday, November 30, at the Eastern Valley Fire District Station, located at 823 Eastern Valley Road in Bessemer. A reception followed the ceremony.
The new truck is a replacement for their old, outdated EMT truck. Known as a rapid response truck, it is capable of providing both EMT services and extinguishing small fires.
This improvement will allow the Eastern Valley Fire District to better serve the community by meeting the medical needs of its residents.
During the ceremony, a plaque was presented to Janet Ryan. The plaque stated that the new truck is in memory of her late husband, Robert Ryan, and their son, Andy Ryan. Fire Chief Passmore and Don Perry presented the plaque.
The community of Eastern Valley originally had a volunteer fire department that was established in 1973. In 2007, the department was changed to the Eastern Valley Fire District.
Don McCool, of Eastern Valley, is the president of the Eastern Valley Fire District Board of Directors.
