The City of Hueytown has just purchased a third fire engine, and it is paid for. What is also important is that the first two fire engines are also paid for in full.
Hueytown Mayor Steve Ware is a good steward of the city’s finances.
Joining the fleet three weeks ago is a Pierce Arrow XT fire engine manufactured in Appleton, Wisconsin. Pierce is a single source leader in custom fire trucks.
This fire engine will replace an engine from 2012.
“The new fire engine is a welcomed addition to our fleet. The engine is the same design as the previous two fire engines, allowing the firemen to already be familiar with its operation,” said Hueytown Fire Chief Danny Sullivan.
The new technology allows the citizens using the Waze app to be aware of an approaching emergency vehicle.
Some of the new tools on the fire engine are battery powered such as the PPV fan and the extrication tools.
The Pierce Arrow XT is housed at Station 2 on 15th Street.
