Join Sumac Cottage on August 1st from 10-3 for an art exhibition, live music, pop-up shop and more, all in celebration of Alabama Audubon’s 6th Annual Black Belt Birding Festival.
For the past 5 years, Sumac Cottage and Black Belt Workshop have worked to bring a visual arts component to each Black Belt Birding Festival, with the vision expanding each year.
This year, Sumac Cottage will be hosting the opening reception for “Plumage,” a feather-themed juried exhibition featuring the work of 30 regional artists.
Additionally, the back deck at the Cottage will feature a pop-up shop with artwork, handmade gifts, yard art and wearables from regional artists and makers.
Several make-and-take art activities will occur throughout the day, including book-making with Doug Baulos and embossed tin ornaments with Julie Carpenter.
Sarah Lee Langford, a long-time fixture of the Birmingham music scene, will be playing a set at 1:00.
All are welcome to stop by throughout the day, and no registration is required.
Parking is available on Market Street and in the city parking lot behind the Greensboro Opera House.
