Colby Raybon Peebles, 33, of Montgomery, is charged with first-degree rape and first-degree assault in connection with an attack reported at a Greensboro motel this month.
A Hale County magistrate issued a warrant for his arrest July 21, following a sworn complaint filed in Hale County District Court. The warrant was issued with no bond.
Peebles was arrested the following day in Montgomery by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, according to a written release from the Greensboro Police Department. The department credited both agencies with locating and apprehending him.
The criminal complaint alleges Peebles engaged in sexual intercourse with a woman by forcible compulsion involving a knife, and that he acted with intent to cause serious physical injury by means of a deadly weapon in the course of and in furtherance of that offense.
Police records place the incident at The Inn Motel on the night of July 18. It was reported to the department the following day. The sworn complaint states the offenses occurred on or about July 19.
The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to the department’s incident report.
The police department said the investigation remains active and asked anyone with information to contact the department.
