WHEREAS, the Hale County Commission provided notice of the proposed vacation and scheduled a public hearing regarding the same by publication in the Greensboro Watchman on October 2, 2025, October 9, 2025, October 16, 2025, and October 23, 2025. Said notice was also posted on the bulletin board at the Hale County Courthouse;
WHEREAS, a special public hearing was held at 6:00 p.m. on November 12, 2025, at the Hale County Courthouse whereby citizens of the county were afforded the opportunity to be heard regarding the proposed road vacation; and
WHEREAS, at the regularly scheduled commission meeting of November 12, 2025, a motion was made by Commissioner Patti Rhodes to vacate said portion of Loon Road, it was seconded by Commissioner Joe L. Hamilton, Jr., and said motion passed by majority vote of the commissioners.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE HALE COUNTY COMMISSION AS FOLLOWS:
It is hereby RESOLVED, that all that part of Loon Road as described above is hereby vacated.
It is hereby further RESOLVED, that all public rights and liabilities in said right-of-way are divested, and all rights to said right-of-way are now and hereafter vested in Darrell Keith Hughey and Kasey Johnson Hughey as the sole and only adjoining landowners to that portion of said Loon Road herein vacated.
It is hereby further RESOLVED that the Commission finds that said road vacation is in the public interest.
It is hereby further RESOLVED, that this Resolution be recorded in the Probate Office of Hale County, Alabama.
It is hereby further RESOLVED, that notice of this Resolution shall be published in the Greensboro Watchman for one week within fourteen (14) days of its execution.
I, the undersigned Chairman of the Hale County Commission, do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the Hale County Commission at its regularly scheduled meeting on November 12, 2025.
