Members of Malik Temple #270 with voter registration forms at the temple’s registration table
The last day to register to vote in Alabama for the upcoming general election is Oct. 19, according to the Alabama Secretary of State’s website.
Members of Malik Temple #270 A.E.A.O.N.M.S. (Oasis of Bessemer) Desert of Alabama were at the Kenneth E. Gulley Rec Center recently for one of their regular voter registration drives.
The temple’s Illustrious Potentate, Dr. Marlon D. Ellington, said, “This year we’ve done one to three drives each month in preparation for the local and general elections. We’ve increased our number of drives since 2025 for such at various locations and events around the city of Bessemer.”
The temple works to make sure people throughout the community understand the importance of registering to vote and of voting in every election. Civic responsibility and community engagement are also fundamental to the mission of the Prince Hall Shriners, who encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote.
