For 15 years, Macedonia Baptist Church, 1401 26th St. North in Bessemer, has kept up a partnership with Abrams Elementary School. Recently the church joined with the school’s kindergarten teachers to provide the items on their classroom wish lists.
“This particular portion of the school year is the best time to bless our kindergarten teachers with the supplies they wish to have,” Remeka Little said. “Teachers go on websites of their choosing and pick items they’d like to ensure academic requirements and a clean facility are met throughout the school year, which we gladly provide.”
The supplies give kindergarten classes a chance to succeed early in their foundational years and meet needs that touch students academically and socially, and the Macedonia Baptist Church family is providing the solutions.
“I’m glad to have a part in helping to provide students with such,” said Mother Rosie P. Harris, a Macedonia trustee. “They’re our future, and days like these are why we look forward to fulfilling such a purpose.”
Pastor Scott and outreach ministry spokesman Jackson were glad to see the cheerful smiles and happiness of Abrams’s kindergartners when they arrived.
“We deeply appreciate Pastor Scott and the Macedonia Baptist Church family,” said Kathryne Atkins, a teacher. “These supplies often provide us with learning games that help our kids with mathematical problem solving, and student centers that are very beneficial to our kids’ progress within the classroom.”
We are thankful for the mission of Pastor Scott and of Abrams Elementary’s administrators in providing known needs for the betterment of our kids inside and outside the classroom. Let’s build a foundation structured to succeed.
