A Perry County grand jury has indicted a Uniontown man on an attempted murder charge in a November 2023 shooting at the Meadows Apartments in Uniontown, according to Perry County Circuit Court records.
Christopher Lamar Ward, 32, of Uniontown is charged with attempted murder, a Class A felony; reckless endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor; and criminal mischief in the third degree, a Class B misdemeanor. The indictment, returned Aug. 25 during the grand jury’s August term and filed in circuit court Sept. 11, charges that on or about Nov. 6, 2023, Ward, with the intent to commit murder, shot at a man multiple times and struck him in the left thigh.
The reckless endangerment count charges that Ward recklessly created a substantial risk of serious physical injury to residents and bystanders at the Meadows Apartments by firing multiple rounds. The criminal mischief count charges that he damaged the rear window of another person’s vehicle, with the damage put at no more than $500.
Ward was arrested Nov. 14, 2023, and released the same day on a $76,000 property bond, court records show. As of Sept. 11, Perry County Circuit Court records listed his status as released on bond. The Times-Standard-Herald reported the arrest in November 2023. Arraignment is set for Oct. 28.
Attempted murder is a Class A felony, punishable upon conviction by 10 years to life in prison.
