Traci Ware, wife of Hueytown Mayor Steve Ware, is his better half. They have been married for 37 years. She is committed to supporting and encouraging her husband. She stands by him.
A friendly, outgoing personality, Traci is a native of Salt Lake City and was raised in Vancouver, Washington. This remarkable lady has been associated with the legal/court reporting industry for over 30 years. An entrepreneur, for several years she owned Just Like Mom’s, the bakery that made her delicious cinnamon rolls.
Traci has been baking all of her life. It is a lifelong love for her, and it gives her great joy when she cooks and bakes for others. Traci has always represented the mayor and the city of Hueytown well. She is indeed an asset to the community and city.
What has been satisfying in your unofficial role?
Traci: I have served behind the scenes alongside Steve since he was first elected in 2016. I enjoy behind the scenes. I support the mayor and city council in whatever ways I am asked to serve. I will always treasure the opportunity we have had to serve the city of Hueytown. We love Hueytown and the people in it.
I am most proud of the fiscal responsibility Steve and the council have fostered for our city. I am also proud of the city’s good reputation which has attracted new businesses and events.
How have you served the community?
Traci: As a citizen of Hueytown, I believe it is most important to attend city council meetings. I attend council meetings and learn the workings of city government. I have served on the Hueytown Beautification Board and the Hueytown Arts Council, two important and purposeful organizations.
Do you have time for hobbies?
Traci: Yes, sir. Obviously, I like to bake, but I also enjoy painting in watercolors and acrylics and reading historical novels and biographies.
I would be remiss if I didn’t ask you about the cinnamon rolls?
Traci: My late mother taught me to bake. She was the absolute best at it. She first taught me how to make a pie crust, next, her famous Parker House rolls and then, the cinnamon rolls. She never used a recipe for the rolls.
I made a recipe from her “throw it in a bowl method.” I named my baking business, Just Like Mom’s, in honor of my mother. Every cinnamon roll, pie or cake I will ever make comes with not only my love, but also my mother’s love.
What religion are you?
Traci: I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints my whole life, and we attend here at the Bessemer location. My faith is the single most defining factor in my life as it influences every decision I make and how I try to live my life.
What is your favorite meal?
Traci: My favorite meal is Sunday dinner: roast, mashed potatoes with gravy, carrots, green beans, homemade rolls, and for dessert, this is a hard one, but I think my mother’s chocolate sheet cake.
Tell me about your family?
Traci: I am the third eldest child of nine of Marion and Zane Parker. From the age of four, I was raised in Vancouver, Washington. Steve and I have two sons, Jake, 35, and his wife Katie and Sam, 21, a member of the Alabama Army National Guard and a student at Auburn University.
