Born in Chicago, Cortez Darris, Jr. moved to Bessemer with his family in 1995. As a child, he would follow his dad around the garage with a wrench in one hand and a baby bottle in the other. By the time he was a teenager, he was very much interested in cars and trucks.
Over time, his passion for the custom automotive industry has developed. Cortez, a master fabricator, loves building custom automobiles. A friendly, outgoing personality, he has won numerous Class Award trophies over the years. For the last three years, he has worked as a rollback operator at Wheeler Wrecker Service in Bessemer.
An outdoorsman, Cortez enjoys hunting, fishing and drag racing. He is always on the go. If he is not at work, then he is at home. Cortez is the type of man who will drop everything to help someone in need. A man with his talents will always be in demand.
What is a master fabricator?
Cortez: A master fabricator is a man who makes what he can’t find. He is a highly skilled man who cuts, designs, shapes and assembles finished products and components, often working with steel and aluminum. If a person owns an older car or even an antique vehicle and parts are no longer available, then the master fabricator must make the part.
What gives you joy?
Cortez: Creating something different. Building custom automobiles is thrilling because it represents a client’s vision and personal style.
Tell me about Limitless Kustoms?
Cortez: In 2015 my father and I opened Limitless Kustoms. The business is located on the corner of 15th Street and Carolina Avenue. It is a custom auto shop where we customize car and truck designs.
What excites you about custom automobiles?
Cortez: Custom automobile work involves many elements of custom design. We can create whatever the client can imagine for his prized automobile.
What is your favorite meal?
Cortez: A medium rare rib eye, baked potato, carrots, green beans, and for dessert strawberry shortcake.
Do you have a favorite movie?
Cortez: Yes, sir. The 2001 action film The Fast and the Furious starring Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.
