City officials say no public hearing has been scheduled on a proposed business at the former Dollar General building on Tuscaloosa Street, following days of discussion among residents over reports that the site could become a nightclub.
Word of the proposal spread on social media last week, with residents raising concerns about parking, traffic access onto Highway 69, noise, policing costs, and property values. One widely shared post stated that the Alabama ABC Board had been approached about a liquor license for the location and predicted the matter would come up at the city council’s July 28 meeting.
In a statement posted to its official Facebook page, the City of Greensboro said that no public hearing is currently scheduled regarding the proposed business. If and when a hearing is scheduled, the city said, notice will be advertised in the local newspaper and posted to the city’s Facebook page.
