The candidates seeking public office for not only the Bessemer City Council but also the Bessemer School Board have all qualified.
The City of Bessemer’s municipal election will be held on Tuesday, August 25. Polls open at 7 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m.
Bessemer City Clerk Wanda Taylor is the Bessemer Municipal Election Manager.
Qualifying for Bessemer School Board, District 1 are Elaine Holifield, 116 2nd Avenue, North and David Vance, 626 3rd Avenue, North.
Candidates for Bessemer School Board, District 2 are incumbent Terry Dawson, 2401 12th Avenue, North and Remeka Little, 1402 28th Street, North.
For Bessemer School Board, District 3, Tasha Wynn-Scott, 2225 Dartmouth Avenue is unopposed.
For Bessemer School Board, District 4, incumbent Sam Morris, 1045 Overhill Road is unopposed.
Qualifying for Bessemer School Board, District 5 are incumbent Margie Varner, 201 2nd Avenue, East, Omar Chapman, 112 Westwood Drive, Southwest, Geortez K. Jackson, 23 Division Street, Fanchon Muhammad, 812 Skyline Circle, Jerri Lynn Scott, 803 Timberline West, and Kermilia Whitehead, 648 Elm Street.
Candidates for Bessemer School Board, District 6 are Darryl Vashon Aikerson, 5295 Cedar Creek Drive, Grover Dunn, 460 Carriage Hills Drive, Gail Brown Harris, 2203 Long 14th Street, William Lewis, 486 Carriage Hills Drive and Monterrius A. Lowe, 2217 Short 14th Street, North.
Qualifying for Bessemer School Board, District 7 are incumbent Lee Jones, 1516 Arlington Avenue and Carolyn Hudson Wilson, 1919 Dartmouth Avenue.
