A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. Monday, June 22, has claimed two lives.
George L. Porter III, 19, of Tuscaloosa, and Latayia Necole Furr Prewitt, 22, of Tuscaloosa, were both fatally injured when the 2013 Nissan Maxima they were passengers in left the roadway, struck a guy wire, went airborne, and overturned. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan, Eric L. Hayes Jr., 20, of Bessemer, was injured and transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.
The crash occurred on Crescent Ridge Road Northeast near 9th Street Northeast, approximately one mile north of Tuscaloosa in Tuscaloosa County. Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division troopers are continuing to investigate, and no further information is available at this time.
