Starting a fundraiser for oneself yet within the event discovering someone who is just as special could use the same support really shows one’s heart.
Shanta Bolden initially began such a fundraiser when she was battling stage 3 breast cancer, then her mother was diagnosed with the same and is now a dialysis patient, and the focus has changed.
“This particular fundraiser is to assist my mother. A survivor of breast cancer twice, she’s now awaiting a kidney, and such funds will go towards her deductible for her new kidney.”
Not wanting this to be just a one-time event, Bolden is hoping to make it an annual situation that will eventually give donations to a local breast cancer awareness organization to continue to help other women.
With special sponsors like Simmons Sporting Goods, Charme’ d’Or Collection (Whittney Fisher), Cloud Nine Confections (Carmen Weston) and Jenkynx Music Service (Antonio Jenkins, Sr.), this fundraiser event will be held June 20, 2026, at the Fairfield Alumni Building (5905 Ave. D – Fairfield, AL 35064) from 6–10 p.m.
The fundraising event will consist of fun, food (this will include six signature drinks), music, games (blackjack, dominos and card tables) and fellowship along with prizes given away and the opportunity to purchase handcrafted jewelry.
Mrs. Bolden told us further:
“My mom has shown great strength, courage and faith during this time of health issues. She is the eldest of her siblings and oldest living member of the Jenkins family, so we’d like to see everyone and embrace them with joyous fun and show appreciation for their immense support.”

We want to extend warm regards and prayers to Mrs. Bolden and the Jenkins family along with all other family members and supporters, as we would also like to note the advisory of Mrs. Bolden:
“Women please get your annual mammogram and see your primary care doctor to make sure your health is good.”
Let’s make healthy living, love and supporting one another a sincere initiative.
