Willoughby Contracting Co. awarded water facilities relocation contract

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), East Central Region, authorized the city of Bessemer to award a construction contract for the relocation of water facilities that conflict with the construction of Project No. STPBH-3713 (252).

The project consists of widening, resurfacing and drainage improvements on CR-337 (McCalla Road) from CR-18 (Eastern Valley Road) to CR-20 (Old Tuscaloosa Highway) in Jefferson County.

Willoughby Contracting Co. submitted the lowest bid in the amount of $533,164.00 for the performance of the work.

Willoughby is responsible for the relocation of water lines for the street-widening project. The relocation of the water lines should take four to five months to complete.

Councilman Chester W. Porter made a motion to approve the item awarding a contract to Willoughby Contracting Co. Councilman Teco Stephens seconded the motion. The motion was approved.
