The mission of the Birmingham Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is to honor our American Revolutionary War patriot ancestors by promoting patriotism, serving our communities and educating and inspiring future generations about the founding principles of our country.
The Birmingham Chapter, the oldest SAR chapter in the State of Alabama, recently hosted their annual Youth Awards Program.
The lineage society meets each month except in July at The Country Club of Birmingham.
The annual Youth Awards event was held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
Chaplain Rev. Dr. Paul Petznick gave the invocation.
Compatriot Bobby Horton led the members in the SAR Pledge and Mission Statement.
Following a delicious luncheon, the youth award winners were honored:
- Poster Contest winner Margaret Keith, daughter of Maibeth and Kevin Keith
- ROTC Cadet Jonathan Tims, Samford University
- JROTC Capt. Price Scott, son of Mary and Patrick Scott, Vincent Middle High School
- Eagle Scout Samuel Eli Gordon, son of Kelly and Eddie Gordon, Rock Creek Troop #247
- Eagle Scout Andrew Zacary Jones, son of Amy and Scott Garland, Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Troop #84
Also honored were the Good Citizenship Scholarship award recipients:

- Tatum Sherer Osborne, daughter of Christine and Patrick Osborne, Vestavia Hills High School
