This project is Phase III of the ongoing Downtown Streetscape Project started in 2021.
The city solicited sealed bids for ALDOT Project No. TAPAA-TA545(915), EES Job No. 2688-24. The streetscape improvements are planned along 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Avenues, North, from 19th to 20th Street, North.
The benefit of the project is to upgrade sidewalks, provide street lighting, and ensure ADA compliance.
The City Council finds that awarding the contract to Bulls Construction Group, LLC is in the best interest of the city of Bessemer and serves a valid public purpose. Bulls Construction Group submitted the lowest responsible bid meeting all specifications and requirements.
Councilwoman Donna Thigpen made a motion to approve the resolution awarding a streetscape improvement contract to Bulls Construction Group, LLC. Councilwoman Carla Jackson seconded the motion, and the motion was approved.
