“I love to bring people closer to God. One day my mom didn’t answer the phone, and I tapped on that doorbell to let her know I needed help with something. I want to help people feel something that many don’t get to feel,” is what content creator Cody Burnett told us recently.
By happenstance, an honest moment turned into a viral phenomenon that grabbed the attention of many—from parents to young adults and even some of today’s biggest filmmakers. Usually speaking to his audience by way of his mother’s Ring doorbell camera, a uniquely talented young man, Cody’s intent is not to just share his storytelling and comedic gifts, but more so to show others that, though you may have humanly flaws, uncertain situations, and overall daily pressures in life, positivity should still be key.

With aspirations to become a film actor or police officer, Cody’s number one fan throughout this newfound form of local celebrity—and from day one—has been his mother, Ms. Lavern Thomas, who has encouraged Cody to continue what he is doing as a young student. She told us that fans and supporters have literally watched Cody grow through social media posts and content creation, as she is proud of the bravery and finding of purpose Cody has used such platforms for.
As a student within the Jefferson County School System, the wave of popularity is not an arrogant gesture towards peers. For school is Cody’s happy place, where he inspires and is inspired, with theater classes being his favorite course of study thus far.
“I want to use my voice as a beacon to bring people closer to God. Don’t give up on yourself because negativity will come, but you must keep pushing no matter what, and that’s the point of what I do overall,” is what Cody continued to tell us.
Beyond skits, laughs, and glamor, Cody shares inspirational messages and moments of prayer intended to help many, which he feels is a spiritual calling and a means to reach those whom many deem unreachable.
