The Bessemer City Council is committed to ensuring the proper administration and enforcement of municipal business licenses and tax ordinances.
Neumo Group, LLC, formerly known as Avenue Insight & Analysis, has presented the City of Bessemer with a proposed service agreement for business license discovery/recovery administration services. The agreement provides for an initial term of three (3) years.
Additional provisions of the agreement include the analysis of multiple municipal data sources to identify potentially unregistered businesses, as well as reporting, reconciliation, and taxpayer assistance services. It also includes the remittance of taxpayer payments directly to the city and compensation to Neumo based upon a percentage of discovery/recovery revenue collected, along with limited ancillary fees as outlined in the agreement.
The City Council agreed that entering into the agreement was in the best interests of the city and its citizens and would serve a valid public purpose.
Councilman Chester W. Porter made a motion to approve the item/resolution, and Councilman Teco Stephens seconded the motion. The motion carried.
