Ala. Power seeks volunteers for spring waterway cleanups

Alabama Power has announced the 2026 schedule for Renew Our Rivers, its annual statewide waterway cleanup program, with several events planned near Perry and Hale counties this spring.

A cleanup at Lake Demopolis is scheduled for March 26–27. Volunteers can contact Bridgette Emory at bmemory@southernco.com to sign up. A cleanup on the Holt Reservoir is set for May 16, with Vanessa Jones as the contact at 205-361-3939. Other cleanups are scheduled at locations across the state through November.

Renew Our Rivers began in 2000 as a cleanup organized by Alabama Power employees concerned about litter along the Coosa River. It has since grown into one of the nation’s largest river cleanup programs, coordinating more than 104,000 volunteers who have removed over 13.5 million pounds of trash from Alabama waterways.
