The City of Bessemer owns and operates multiple water storage tanks that are part of its public water system.
The Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) has promulgated regulations governing water storage tank maintenance and comprehensive requirements. Water storage tanks are required to be maintained on a consistent schedule.
The Bessemer Water Service/Bessemer Utilities determined that it is necessary and in the best interest of the City of Bessemer and its water customers to engage a qualified, professional contractor to perform inspection and maintenance services in strict accordance with the established standards and guidelines.
A resolution was introduced authorizing the mayor of the City of Bessemer to execute agreements on behalf of Bessemer Water Services/Bessemer Utilities with American Tank Maintenance, LLC.
Councilman Teco Stephens made a motion to approve the resolution authorizing the agreement. It was seconded by Councilman Chester W. Porter.
The motion carried.
