Located near Riverchase Elementary School, the 30-acre Riverchase Greenway Trail Extension was recently dedicated. It is located at 3999 Lorna Road in Hoover.
Hoover Mayor Nick Derzis stated, “We strive to provide the best possible quality of life for our residents and projects like this, where a greenway runs alongside the Cahaba River help make that possible.” Mayor Derzis cut the ribbon at the official dedication ceremony.
The trailhead is part of the Red Rock Trail System.
Featured along the half-mile loop are natural trails, open fields, a pine thicket, and two bridges over flood plain ponds along the Cahaba River.
The project is part of the city’s long-range planning. Hoover residents along with other visitors are enjoying the trail and the river.
