Having your picture taken with Santa Claus is an honored, timeless tradition for many families.
The Bessemer Police Department sponsored Photos with Santa and the Bessemer Police Chief last Thursday, December 11, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Gary Carmichael is the Bessemer Police Chief. Chief Carmichael knew the event would allow the department to become more engaged with the community.
The fun event was held at the Police Department’s Emergency Operations Center, 651 9th Avenue, SW.
The children delighted in sitting on Santa’s lap and telling the jolly, old elf what they wanted for Christmas.
The popular Christmas tradition was organized by Sgt. Kendra Ward-Young, Officer Rishea Murry, Erin Jones, Kimberly Silmon, Torrey Gibbs, and Seth Gordon.
Sgt. Young stated, “During the Christmas season, the Bessemer Police Department decided it was important to bring more Christmas joy to the children in Bessemer.”
It was a wonderful and memorable Christmas event that will be cherished for years.
